Three million... down the tube, except for $153,000 going to new rich uncle.
They pulled it off!
A shout out and a huge congratulations to the brave Somali pirates who pulled a cool $3,000,000 ransom from elegantly gloved hands of the Sirius Star owners. The release of that big boat carrying $100 million in crude oil came immediately after an exquisitely executed parachute-drop delivery of what amounts to a three per cent passage fee. Isn’t that about what credit card companies charge vendors per purchase? Still, one is piracy and the other supposedly is not.
An exit strategy might have helped.
We are not clear on the pirate’s escape method. Not yet. We are not certain of any method at all. Information is that a hand full of pirates divided the loot and headed to shore. The sea was angry that day, my friends. The pirates tiny escape ship was tossed until it capsized. As per any Spielbergian movie script, two of the guys made it to shore alive but lost their money, another pirate washed ashore dead, his $153,000 share intact in a plastic bag discovered in a trouser pocket.
Laundered currency.
“Some of the money is wet,” said the dead pirate’s uncle. “We’re trying to dry it out.”
Yes. First things first. By all means.
