It’s so awkward isn’t it? Those meetings. That odd 3 % margin – how many uptight parents I had who’d freak out on me because their child never got less than 100%!My oldest were perfect like that; my youngest, my one precious daughter the only one who had to have “those” kinds of conferences, but only on a few occasions. And yet she is also the blue eyed wonder, the joy of my life. And as a teacher, or a retired one since two months ago – i relish NOT being on the other side of those painful meetings, knowing not much is going to change until that precious child caught in the center of attention decides to change. I wish i could just be catcher in the rye for all of them – go outside and play for a few years until it all settles down and we all realize that we all can’t fit into a 30×30 clasroom years on end, hours each day, and survive. But enough about my teaching career – my troubled students just reflected my troubled teaching.
