Experience taught me a few things. One is to listen to your gut, no matter how good something sounds on paper. The second is that you're generally better off sticking with what you know. And the third is that sometimes your best investments are the ones you don't make.

balloon boy throws up… just wait till he grows up

Cool name, Falcon. Too bad he’ll always be known as Balloon Boy. We could pun ourselves to death with this one: his meteoric rise to fame; his ballooning popularity still on the rise; true to his (Falcon’s) name, his story soars… it has wings; his daddy’s world may crash and burn, be left smoldering. It’s just too easy.
It’s classic branding. In this case, one brand is imposed as on a cow: painfully, quickly, permanently, unalterably.

Too bad. Falcon works. If the family begins now they could weave it into the story so that it enhances the balloon boy soon-to-be myth-cum-urban legend. Got to make it happen, though. The Bubble Boy is forever known as such. If I’m not mistaken, that was a choice the family made, probably wisely. Anonymity is far less stressful than fame, until the movie comes out. Then it only heightens the mystic.
But our Balloon Boy (the name should be trademarked, oh, but wait, it’s “organic” occurring naturally, not of deliberate invention but of simultaneous collective recognition of its common use). So, TM rights will be a legal dog fight. Oh, there we go again with the aviation references.
Oh, and the best part is that our young Falcon barfed on the Today show. Haven’t seen it. But it’s all the talk, everything regurgitated on the web, on the news, on blogs like this one. Save it for the Vomit Comet. Please.

You were really high on this ride. But you were more than hot air. I laughed a lot my sides still ache,my heart went pitterpat. You DO have a way with words. How sad this child seems to be just another tool of the newest reality show monster – the self-promoting (for-profit)family.
It’s not just celebrities that pimp their kids.
