What is a Sacred Clone?

Millions of clones surround you. All are alike. You cannot tell them apart, one from the other, one from another, another from another or another from one. Seen one? Seen them all! Seen them all? Not in your lifetime you won’t. And how would you know if you had? Get on with your life and be grateful you are different in your world of similarities. Still, something about that one clone you met a few thousand clones back… as absurd as is the concept, something was noticeably peculiar about that clone. You discuss the situation with others. Not surprisingly they are identical in their individual responses. Each one insists that no discernible characteristic of that particular clone stands out from any other.  Each confides in you, however, that they have experienced the same sensation regarding another clone, a different clone in each case for everyone you interview. So disturbing is this notion that bonds are formed among those who share this awareness. Support groups form into alliances that become movements toward changing official positions and attitudes toward creatures who number so many yet who seem identical. Another burgeoning faction gels on a platform that the concept is just that, a concept, wholey abstract, unreal other than in the minds of the believers. Where is the proof, they ask? You noticed that one clone once. How do you know you haven’t encountered it again and again. Not one report of a second sighting occurs. And so, you begin to wonder if indeed this is all just a part of your imagination. You decide to attend the opposition’s ralley. You are impressed with their passion and conviction, their exuberant expressions of unanimity. You look up at one of  speakers because the rhetoric echoes your own logic, seemingly built upon the same thought processes. Again you look. The person talking sees you. It is the clone you noticed before all of this started. It is the clone you noticed that so long ago that caused you to move toward all you believe, the absence of which encouraged you to deny. It is you. That clone, of all clones, is you.
